Whatever you celebrate at this time of year...
Cultivate your Joy & Love,
What this Season Means to You
Many people have difficulty getting "into the spirit" at this time of year -- whether it's the tranquility & reflectiveness of Solstice, the miracles of Chanukah, or the magic of Christmas. So how can we help ourselves with this?
One way I use to re-mind and reconnect myself is through music, TV and movies that I love.
Some of my treasured memories at this time of year are connected to childhood... For example, hearing my mother play Christmas records (like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir) in our home, or watching TV programs like A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (animated version).
As an adult, I've come to feel the same way about movies like Going My Way, the Bells of St. Mary's (both Bing Crosby classics), The Bishop's Wife (with Cary Grant and Loretta Young), Scrooged (with Bill Murray) and The Family Man (with Nicholas Cage).
Each one touches something inside that speaks to me of love, caring, giving and transformation.
What are some of the music, TV shows or movies that you have loved over the years,
that bring the 'spirit of the season' to your mind and heart?
Let Them Help You...
If you are having difficulty getting into the Season this year, consider using some of your 'favourites' to help. What I've discovered is that many of these are now available only a few keystrokes away, online. What a gift...
Before giving to others this year, try starting with yourself. Nurture your own heart and soul with some gifts of Love -- by searching your favourite music, TV shows or most cherished movies on the Web. Or, look for some new ones that speak to you of what this time of year is all about. Then when the current within is flowing, give from this place to others.
Here are a few starting points, and where to find them:
