Whatever you celebrate at this time of year,
Solstice, Chanukah, Christmas or something else...

Cultivate your Joy/Love,
and What this Season Means to You

Many people have difficulty getting into the "Christmas spirit" -- or connecting with the heart & soul of this time of year, whatever your spiritual or religious path/tradition.

So how can we help ourselves with this?

One way I use is to "re-mind" myself through music, TV and movies that I love.

Some of my treasured memories at this time of year are connected to my childhood...
of hearing my mother play Christmas records (like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir) in our home, or of watching TV programs like A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (animated version).

As an adult, I've come to feel the same way about movies like Going My Way, the Bells of St. Marys (both Bing Crosby classics), The Bishop's Wife (with Cary Grant and Loretta Young), Scrooged (with Bill Murray) and The Family Man (with Nicholas Cage).

Each one touches something within me that speaks to me of love, caring and magic.

Can you think of some music, TV shows or movies that you have loved over the years, that bring the 'spirit of the season' to your mind and heart?

Let Them Help You...
If you're having difficulty getting into the Season, or want to reconnect with some of the joy you experienced in younger days, consider using some of your 'all-time favourites' to help.

What I've discovered lately is that many of these are now available only a few keystrokes away - online. What a gift...

So if you are looking at how to start or what to give this Season, start with yourself. Give yourself some gifts of Love -- by searching your favourite music, TV shows or scenes from some of your most cherished movies on the Web.

Here are a few examples, and where to find them:

Christmas Music:
(an incredible selection and variety!)

(And a little Mormon Tabernacle Choir)

Winter solstice music:
(Here's a little Enya...)

Chanukah music:

(Can't find "Dreidl, Dreidl, Dreidl"?)

Favourite TV, movies and scenes (on YouTube)

A Charlie Brown Christmas (full show)

The Family Man (full movie)

The Bells of St. Marys (full movie)

For lots more movie selections (without having to sign-up to a special service), consider:

Whatever you celebrate in the coming month, may you have a rich, joy-filled and holy holiday season.
